Become an Information Guru and Sell More
The basis to any website and how it performs comes down to 5 key principles that we are constantly developing and building on so that we can learn to develop our own style and eventually become an expert in our own field of interest.
A website should be informative and ever changing so people will always have a reason to come back. Consider yourself the #1 sales person for your business and your website. You and you alone are the one who will make or break your websites success.
First, establish yourself as and “Information Guru” and create “Information Junkies” who want to constantly be updated with new and unheard of knowledge. As an Information Guru you are the person who your visitors need in order to evaluate all the options of a specific product or service that your are selling or giving away on your website and who will finally make a decision to buy something from you. The least case scenario and still a good one is that you have them coming back because they find your website informative.
Become Your Own Information Guru
For all intent and purposes becoming an Information Guru really means developing a mind set that does not allow you to think, “Oh, shit I have to make this sale”! You should first start by creating a relaxing and passive atmosphere with very little pressure to have your client(s) spend his/her money. Of course the main objective of having your customer coming to your website is of course to have them purchase what your selling. You want them to buy from you don’t you? Of course you do! Communicate with openness, honesty and trust.
“People Will Become “Information Junkies” When
They Are Interested in Buying”
Famed Marketing Guru – Winston Marsh
Note: I will be breaking down the next few points of the article below by showing you both the online and offline way of approaching becoming an information junkie.
Here we go…
Online: When you have an online business you want people to come to your website and then decide to purchase what it is that your selling. This is done the same way as face to face selling.
By becoming and Information Guru you can ease the tenacious idea of closing the deal before you’ve actually sold the deal. By developing strong products through information, your customers will rely entirely on your product or service. Your customers will start uploading tons of information into their brains and realize that you are a person with total integrity and that what you have to offer is real.
Use Customer Connect Methods
Offline: Using Customer Connect methods is nothing new because it basically involves creating rapport and making your client feel relaxed and at ease with their surroundings and your product. Simple conversation is always the best kind of situation. Talking about family, work (though not in a lot of cases), a vacation and even talking about the weather. Customers Connect effectively well to flattery and this method should be used at every chance. Think about the last conversation you had with someone about the weather? Its always something that both of you can relate to and always bring conversation to the frontpage of your conversation.
Hey John, pretty hot day were having today, but did you get to see that wind storm we had the other morning when trees were toppled down?
This helps in any situation where you want to make a connection with your customers.
Online: Having a website that interacts with your customers is essential. Have a blog that allows people to respond to what you have to offer. Offer them a free download of an important article/report that you have. Make them apart of your community by getting their email address and offering them a subscription to your online newsletter. There are plenty ideas.
Becoming your own Information Guru for your product or service will certainly help to increase your bottom line. You are definitely a leading-edge thinker and more aware than any of your friends or peers the kind of steps required in order to effectively increase your bottom line.
Online Customer Connect methods:
- a website
- Blogs
- newsletters
- free giveaways
- video
- audio clips
- social networking
You should start seeing similarities in their approach. Begin by finding ways to make contact with your customers. This will ensure have every way to contact them and if your message has their best interest at heart you will win them over.
Offline Customer Connect methods might involve:
- Creating customer appreciation nights for your clients.
- Sending them email or postcards on regular basis.
- Sending them a birthday or anniversary card.
- A website does an amazing job of keeping you in touch with your clients.
- Giving them a phone call even after they have purchased. Service after the sale.
- Tie your product or service to a woman, a baby, or a pet. Why? Because everyone in interested in this trio.
- Cd’s, Videos, DVD’s, Ebooks all work well to connect with your clients.
Remember the more that a client hears from you, the more they will begin to feel they know you and can trust you.
Lend An Ear To Customer Needs
What person in this entire universe wants to be listened to and will never take the backseat to it under any circumstances.? ME! Well, what I really mean is YOU.
Ok, let me clear this up a little. Everyone wants to be heard and be listened to so they can feel that they are the topic of conversation. Its true that flattery goes a long way to connecting to your clients but you’re the one talking and not your client. So now its time to let your client talk and be heard. In plain words, shut up and listen to what they are really telling you.
Your clients want to know that they are the ones who are important and who are you to think otherwise. They are the ones that are sitting next to you ready to spend their money with you aren’t they?
If they aren’t then maybe you should listen a little more closely! Lend an ear and they will be more attentive to your product or service.
This is clearly the part where your website, email, newsletter or any other source of online communication must allow your customers to be heard. If you don’t let them be heard then you will ultimately never build your list and never have a good chance of being successful online.
Conclude, Is There A Match?
Is there a match in your clients needs and what you can really deliver to them as a products? If your product can deliver high quality results and has the people and support to drive customer service home then I would think that you have a match.
Clients want results when they are aggressively asking for it and if your a good “Information Guru” that is on the ball, then you should be able to conclude there is a match quite easily. This is where your expertise and experience comes into play as well. Proper product knowledge will be your advantage here. Remember your providing them with all the possible information about the product that you can and if you don’t know the answer then you will get one for them ASAP.
Your clients want to know about your product or they wouldn’t be talking to you, so you have to aggressively deliver the proper product information to them so that you match their beliefs with your product. The product information you share with them should be convincing enough to bring about an experience that convinces them that your product is the best one for them out there. Isn’t that what selling is all about, convincing?
Are You As Information Guru… Or a Salesman?
There is a difference you know! Become and information guru and make others a guru like you, use the following old way of selling and you’ll fail.
Create sales pressure
Chase them a little
Create some kind of tension
Prospect will actually leave at this point
No Sale!
Pain and Rejection
If you have an open mind of course anything is possible and if you are ready to follow the guideline that I’ve just laid out then you should be well on your way to becoming a “Information Guru” and not a classic salesman.
